USA warns of mobile phone radiation

The U.S. CDC has updated its “Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)” section on cell phone radiation and health. She now explains that, like many other worldwide organizations, she advises caution when using cell phones. It publishes tips on how citizens can reduce radiofrequency radiation near their bodies.

The CDC suggests that more research is needed to understand the health risks of cell phone radiation. So far, however, the USA has neglected to support research into radio radiation and its effects on health. This research should be conducted independently of the mobile industry, as there is significant evidence that the industry has undermined many of the studies it has funded in the past.

The acoustic tumor:

Scientists are investigating possible links between mobile phone use and certain tumors. One type of tumor is the acoustic tumor. This tumor occurs in the inner ear canal, between the ear and the brain. It does not cause cancer, but can lead to other health problems, such as hearing loss, balance problems or headaches. The other type of tumor that scientists are looking at more closely is glioma, which usually occurs in the brain or spinal cord.

Excerpt from “Frequently Asked Questions” on the website of the US health authority CDC:

Can the use of cell phones cause cancer?

There is still no scientific evidence to answer this question unequivocally. Like many organizations worldwide, we advise caution in the use of cell phones. More research is needed before we can say with certainty whether the use of cell phones causes cancer or not.

Do cell phones cause radiation?

Yes – cell phones and landline telephones use radio frequency for signal transmission. Radiofrequency is different from other radiation (such as X-rays) that we know can be harmful. We do not yet know for sure whether radiofrequency radiation from cell phones will cause health problems years later. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified radiofrequency radiation as “possibly carcinogenic”.

Do cell phones cause health problems in children?

It is too early to say for sure. Children who already use cell phones and continue to do so in adulthood are exposed to radiofrequency radiation for many years. So if radiofrequency causes health problems, these children are more likely to develop these diseases in the future.

Epidemiological study with soldiers confirms the results of laboratory and animal studies: soldiers who used their cell phone more than 20 times a day had a significantly lower sperm concentration on average than soldiers who used their cell phone less than once a week. This is the result of the largest epidemiological study conducted in Switzerland to date.
