More research needed into the health effects of electromagnetic radiation

Although there is still little knowledge about the consequences of the 5G mobile communications standard, the mobile communications industry is working at full speed on its introduction. There are now protests and petitions against this.

In view of the auction of frequencies for the new 5G mobile communications standard, which begins today, the Federal Office for Radiation Protection(BfS) considers further research into the health consequences of electromagnetic radiation to be necessary, writes the Ärzteblatt in its March 19 edition. Significantly higher data transmission volumes, new and additional transmitters and higher frequencies have changed the radiation intensities, BfS President Inge Paulini told the Passauer Neue Presse. These would have to be investigated. The new 5G standard will also use “higher frequencies” in the medium term, explained Paulini. “We still have little knowledge in this area and will conduct further research in the medium term,” the scientist announced. Furthermore, from their point of view, it was unclear what would happen if, for example, different operators were to install transmission power at the same location. “We will monitor and evaluate this,” said the head of the BfS and called for further investigations into the effects of radiation from additional transmission masts.

5G – a danger to health?

The fear of cell phone radiation and its effects on the human body is not entirely new. But with the planned 5G network expansion in Germany, it is increasing, writes Deutsche Welle and asks the question: Is the new technology harmful to health? The fact is: The introduction of fifth-generation mobile networks (5G) is planned not only in Germany, but worldwide. The fifth generation of mobile communication will use higher frequencies and bandwidths. Users will then be able to transfer mobile data many times faster than with older mobile communications standards – at rates of up to ten gigabits per second. According to the Deutsche Welle report, existing G networks use frequencies between 700 megahertz and six gigahertz. The 5G network operates at frequencies from 28 to 100 gigahertz. In comparison, this means that 4G is ten times faster than 3G. The fifth generation is even faster: it is said to be around a thousand times faster than 4G. Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson predicts that over 40 percent of the world’s population will be using 5G technology by 2024.

Medical and health policy protest in Mainz

Protests against the planned introduction of 5G are taking place throughout Germany and Europe. This is documented by the many petitions that individuals have launched (see also report on diagnose-funk.org). As reported by Tagesschau on March 19, 2019, citizens gathered in Mainz at the start of the 5G frequency auction to express their protest against the current mobile communications policy. Environmental physician Barbara Dohmen, board member of the Competence Initiative – pictured left, with Gudrun Kaufmann, Gesellschaft für Gesundheitsberatung – addressed the President of the Federal Network Agency, Jochen Homann, in an open letter: “You are depriving all those who are hypersensitive to electricity of their last possible refuge with the upcoming 5G auctions.”

Minor change instead of building permit

For two years, Swiss mobile network operators have been screaming according to Hans-U. Jakob, President of the gigaherz.ch association, hetter and mordio after a relaxation of the radiation limits for mobile phone radiation. Without three to four times higher limit values (measured in V/m), the new mobile communications standard could never be introduced. The mobile phone lobby has already failed twice with this demand in the Council of States. This on December 8, 2016 and March 5, 2018. “A so-called moderate increase from 5 to 20V/m would not have allowed the construction of transmitters that were only four times more powerful, but 16 times more powerful. This means that the transmission power per sector could have been increased from the current average of 3000 watts ERP to 48,000 watts ERP,” calculates Hans-U. Jakob before. And now this: now the mobile network providers suddenly no longer need 48,000 watts ERP per sector for 5G, but according to the planning application documents, miraculously only 50 to 500 watts ERP. How is that possible? Hans-U. Jakob from gigaherz.ch: “Clever minds have figured out that upgrading an existing transmitter mast could actually be declared a minor modification that does not require a building permit.”

5G forces people to take responsibility

Richard Neubersch, owner of Swiss Harmony , describes in the following video what will change with 5G and that each individual should ensure protection for themselves and their family.
