Dhe debate about the health and environmental risks of 5G/mobile communications continues. New research findings underline the potential danger. It is not without reason that more and more people are concerned about the effects of mobile phone radiation.

Moving story

The “Schmelzer case” in Helmstadt, near Würzburg, has become particularly well known. A very personal film is dedicated to him.

It was the great wish of former principal Hans Schmelzer to tell his moving story on film. After the number of cancer cases in the vicinity of a mobile phone base station increased and he and his wife Brigitte were diagnosed with cancer, Hans Schmelzer embarked on intensive research, founded a citizens’ initiative and became involved as a courageous spokesperson and educational campaigner. Hans Schmelzer is not an isolated case, and numerous citizens’ initiatives have since been founded in Germany. It is Hans Schmelzer’s express wish that the film “The Schmelzer Case” should help the many committed people in their educational work.

New results worth considering

Thedebate about the health and environmental risks of 5G/mobile communications continues. The most controversial question is whether, in addition to so-called thermal, i.e. heat-related effects, there are also more far-reaching biological effects of radiation exposure on humans and the environment, which have now been pointed out many times by industry-independent research. In their new overview study, biophysicist Hans-Jürgen Apell and biochemist Volker Ullrich have questioned previous basic research on the connection between electromagnetic fields (EMF) and calcium signals – with new and thought-provoking results. The two scientists in an interview with Klaus Scheidsteger.

Klaus Scheidsteger: In the case of alcohol and tobacco consumption, a harmful effect can be traced, but in the case of EMFs, or let’s put it more simply, microwaves, we don’t see, hear or smell anything. So how are they supposed to affect organisms or tissues or even be harmful?

Hans-Jürgen Apell: The physicist has to help a little. Yes, microwaves have clear effects in the microwave oven, because you can bring water to the boil or cook vegetables. Simply because water absorbs the energy of microwaves and converts it into heat. This requires energies of 100 to 1000 watts, which would be highly dangerous if the waves were not prevented from escaping from the oven by a wire mesh, a so-called Faraday cage. Since initially no effects of EMF were known apart from these thermal effects, a maximum value of one degree of warming for human tissue, for example the skin, was used as the basis for setting limit values for electromagnetic fields and thus a limit value for cell phone radiation was set. This applies internationally to the emissions of appliances from all manufacturers. As no other measurement parameters were known, the increase in temperature due to the emitted radiation has so far remained the same, although it has long been known that biological effects already occur at far below one watt. The effects triggered in this area are insufficiently known and therefore cannot be quantified. Thermal effects certainly have nothing to do with the damage caused by radiation in this energy range.

(…) Klaus Scheidsteger: This raises the question of the future development of mobile communications, especially the introduction of the 5G standard, which is being resisted by the population. Is this justified from your point of view?

Volker Ullrich: Here, too, we can only extrapolate from our knowledge of 3G and 4G, as the impact of 5G, which has been touted as a groundbreaking technology, on people and nature has not yet been reviewed by independent institutions, or at least we are not aware of any such studies. What is worrying, however, is that a high number of transmitters and higher transmission powers are required due to the higher frequencies and the correspondingly lower penetration depth. There are warning voices that predict a greater damaging effect on biological surfaces such as skin or leaves or even insects. Tomato plants are known to be highly sensitive to EMF. The leaves then wither. In contrast, increased sprouting was observed in young pines at 3G and 4G, which supports the idea of cell activation.

Plants show symptoms of stress
A research report on the effect of electromagnetic fields on lettuce plants had similar experiences. The magazine Lebendige Erde reported on this in May of this year. The lettuce plants were exposed to radiation from DECT phones and Wi-Fi routers – the result: “As can be seen in the figure, there is a significant difference in the performance index of the irradiated plants compared to the control plants from September 20, 2021. In the previous year’s trials on the lime trees, EMF effects were also only recognizable after around three weeks. This indicates a reduced functionality of the photosynthetic apparatus caused by the electromagnetic field. Based on these studies, it is reasonable to conclude that plants show stress symptoms even after a short exposure period of a few weeks. There were also morphological differences in the later development of the plants: the plants exposed to EMF started flowering much earlier.”

Clear findings on the damage potential

The Bioinitiative Reports have been documenting the study situation on non-ionizing radiation, including mobile phone radiation, since 2012. They are written by 29 authors who are leading scientists in the field of radiation, including three past presidents of the Bioelectromagnetics Society, five of whom are full members. According to diagnose-funk.org, there is now clear evidence of the harmful potential of mobile phone radiation, proven by studies at the highest scientific level. In addition to the evaluation of the Bioinitiative presented here, the STOA study, published by the EU Parliament’s Technology Assessment Committee, provides a very comprehensive overview of the scientific findings.

Generate a harmonic oscillation field

How can you protect yourself and your children from high-frequency radiation and electrosmog? “The law of resonance states that no resonances can occur in an oscillation field with oscillations whose frequencies lie outside those of the field,” says Richard Neubersch, owner of Swiss Harmony in Grellingen, a company that specializes in the harmonization of electrosmog. In other words: In a harmonic oscillation field, artificial radiation has no effect, regardless of who generates it, whether it comes from a neighbor or a nearby mobile phone mast. In-house WLAN transmitters, cell phones or cordless phones are interference-free because they are connected to the harmonic current field and therefore emit the same harmonic information.
